Qx2 Contracting, Inc. was founded in 1994 with strong belief that all people deserve a decent place to live. Since its beginning, Qx2 has gone through several changes: starting out as a residential remodeling general contractor, then design/build remodeler and now as a consulting firm. Through all of those changes, Qx2 has never lost sight of the importance housing holds for individual people and for society as a whole.
In Qx2’s early years, the majority of contracting projects where CDBG/HOME funded whole-house rehabs awarded through local community development departments in partnership with local non-profit community development corporations. Over 150 such projects were completed throughout mid-Michigan with Qx2 Contracting, Inc. as general contractor.
In 1999, Qx2 was awarded a two house historical restoration project owned by Ferris Development on 1119 and 1121 E. Kalamazoo Street, Lansing, MI. This project won a Stewart’s Award from the Lansing Historical Society and was the first project in Ingham County that had county health department funded lead abatement activity weaved throughout the CDBG/HOME funded activity. Qx2 Contracting, Inc. was the general contractor in charge of the project, but the lead abatement aspects where outside of our contracted scope of work.
In 2000, all personnel were trained as certified Lead Workers; our Project Coordinator Mike Montalvo was trained as a certified Lead Supervisor and company president, Brindley Byrd, trained as a certified Lead Risk Assessor. Qx2 Contracting, Inc. has never done any lead abatement work.
As the company grew and started implementing principles and practices learned while attending industry conferences and seminars offered through the NAHB University of Housing, Qx2 Contracting, Inc. entered into design/build projects completing most aspects with in-house personnel.
Market trends and lower-back injury to the company president required reevaluation of services offered.
All contracting services terminated in 2005.
Qx2 Contracting, Inc. was renamed Qx2, Inc. in 2006 and provides consulting and presentation services to the construction industry.
